Rated 4.9 by Havering homeowners
Booked Brightwell to fit a 7kW charger and they sorted the whole grant claim for me. Tidy, on time and explained everything. The app setup was done before they left. Couldn’t fault them.
Full rewire on a lived-in house. They protected the carpets, cleaned up every day and the making-good was spot on. Certificate came through two days later. Genuinely premium service.
Had the whole ground floor fitted with downlights and some extra sockets. The finish is immaculate — you’d never know walls had been chased. Polite, careful and great value.
Old plastic board swapped for a proper metal RCBO unit in an afternoon. Tested everything first and talked me through it all. Reassuring to have it properly certified.
I have four rentals and Brightwell handled all the EICRs and a couple of remedials in one coordinated visit. Reports were clear and quick. My agent was impressed too.
Lost all power late on a Friday with a baby in the house. Phoned and a real electrician answered, talked me through making it safe, then arrived within the hour. Lifesavers.
Frequently asked questions
Quick answers to the questions Havering homeowners ask us most. See our full FAQ for more.
How much does an EICR cost?
An EICR for a typical 1–2 bedroom flat starts from £120. Larger homes are priced on the number of circuits — a 3-bed house is usually £150–£220. We give you a fixed price up front, and any remedial work is quoted separately with no obligation.
Do I need a rewire?
You may need a rewire if your home still has old rubber, lead or fabric-insulated cabling, a fuse box with rewireable fuses, frequent tripping, scorched or warm sockets, or no earthing to certain circuits. Most installations last 25–30 years. The surest way to know is an EICR — we’ll tell you honestly whether a full rewire, a partial rewire or simply some remedial work is needed.
Am I eligible for the EV charger grant?
The OZEV EV chargepoint grant is available to people who own a flat or live in rented accommodation (and to landlords for their properties), worth up to £350 off the cost of a home charger. As an OZEV-approved installer we confirm your eligibility and handle the claim for you. Homeowners in single-occupancy houses are not covered by the current grant, but we’ll always advise you on what applies.
Are you a registered and certified electrician?
Yes. Brightwell Electrical is an NICEIC Approved Contractor and NAPIT registered, with engineers qualified to 18th Edition (BS 7671) and City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing. We are Part P registered and can self-certify and notify Building Control. We are also OZEV-approved for EV installations and fully insured with £5m public liability cover.
How much is an emergency call-out?
Our emergency call-out starts from £120, which includes attendance and the first 30 minutes on site. We always explain the rates clearly before any work begins — there are no hidden charges, even at nights and weekends.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes — quotes and surveys are free and no-obligation. For larger jobs such as rewires we visit, assess the work and give you a fixed price in writing so there are no surprises.
